The LP2954 doesn’t have an electronic shutdown built in, the circuit diagram bellow performs how to add external shutdown function to this 5V LDO regulator which provides 5V output at load currents up to 250mA.
This is a low-power shutdown circuit which can be added by using a P-FET in the input lead as an On/Off switch. The switch threshold is between 1V and 3V to be a "logic level" type of the FET. If the load current is < 300 mA, there are FET devices available which have very low power losses at these currents.

In the LP2954 datasheet, you may find basic 5V regulator circuit diagram. The circuit shows the maximum power dissipated by the regulator which can be calculated through the formula seen in the circuit instead of the present of voltages and currents.
This calculation could be needed in a heatsink applications to determine if a heatsink is a required.

The following picture shown a 3 to 30V power supply circuit diagram using L200 IC made by Anwar von Sroka. It is constructed for the use with 100W transceivers.
The L200 IC which is known as virtually blow-out proof IC for voltage and current programmable regulation, is able for regulating the voltage as well as the current. It should be connected as close as possible to the minus terminal. Here, if you need to see the L200 datasheet.
