The ADS5221 Analog and Digital Power Supply Datasheet and Schematic
The ADS5221 is one of CMOS Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) which uses single +3.3V power supply operation. The
ADS5221 has three power supply pins, there are AVdd, DVdd, and VDRV. The AVdd analog can supply +3.3V, the same value for digital DVdd can supply. Then a digital output VDRV can be +2.5V up to +3.3V. The three of those pins, both analog and digital supply, can be tied together externally with a ferrite bead or inductor between the supply pins.
According to the AD5221 Datasheet, you are recommended to consider linear supplies instead of switching types since switching supplies can radiate noise that could interfere with any high-frequency input signal and lead to an unwanted modulation outcome. You can supply voltage that you should use within tolerance in the AD5221 electrical characteristics section. Please enlarge figure beside to show the basic configuration with the power supply decoupling schematic. The ADS5221 can be applied to portable instrument, wireless local loop, medical imaging applications, and communications since it has low distortion and high SNR in its feature.
